Description
Using PMA Ethiopia's 2019–2020 nationally representative survey of postpartum women, this brief found that person-centered maternity care was only moderate overall (averaging 19 of 39 points), with communication and autonomy scoring lowest — over half of women were never or rarely asked for consent before procedures and 55% could not deliver in their preferred position — and with experiences varying widely even within the same community and falling hardest on younger, poorer, and less-educated women.
