Newborn and child health
EPMA measures newborn and child health from the household, independently of facility records, and the panel study follows the same mother–infant pairs across the first year. Measures include essential newborn care (drying, skin-to-skin contact, delayed bathing, early initiation of breastfeeding and clean cord care), postnatal contact and recognition of danger signs, care-seeking for childhood illness, and the availability and readiness of newborn and child health services (SDP survey).
